Detailed Trail Description

Once you get on Campground Rode, you will find the trailhead parking lot which is where this trail starts. You can park your car and then start biking on the trail, and despite the long distance and the flowing layout, there isn’t much change in elevation along the trail aside from a few hills and dips in the trail that most bikers should be able to handle without any real trouble.

The trail is a loop that takes you from the parking lot, down through the park, and then back up towards the parking lot. With all the twists and turns it can be pretty easy to get dizzy even on the marked trail, so make sure you can commit to the four miles before you get started. Otherwise, the trail is a fairly popular one and you will find that plenty of other bikers and hikers are sharing it with you.

Finally, if you are up for a massive biking challenge, there is a 1.3 mile main trail that is also connected by the railroad parking lot, so if you wanted to, you could also take one trail, loop around and hit the parking lot, and then loop back around the other trail for a massive bike trip.

Recommendations On Tanglewood Park

Tanglewood is a massive park in North Carolina, so don’t be afraid to take your time with exploring it. There is an entirely new trail that is in the north of the park, and that is well worth your exploration. Additionally, because these trails don’t have massive changes in elevation, you can also walk around them and see the sights of Tanglewood Park for yourself. There’s even a two mile multi-use trail that takes you towards a picnic area with restrooms, perfect if you just want to spend the day outdoors with nothing to worry about.

Conclusion

Whether you are walking or taking your mountain bike for a spin, Tanglewood Park is more than just whatever trail you decide to get on that day, so don’t be afraid to explore.

However, the main Tanglewood Park Trail is a trail that is 4 miles and comes with plenty of twists and turns. This advanced trail comes with berms, log overs, and tight loops to keep your biking interesting, and it comes in two halves. The first half is technical with sharp turns and steep climbs, and the second half is fast and flowy to the point where you will feel like you are one with the wind.
