When it comes to Boise's trove of biking trails, there's one that takes Shane's Loop to a whole new level of excitement. Named Shane's Loop Redux by local riders, this loop trail invites cyclists to challenge their prowess, all while savoring panoramic vistas of Boise's scenic foothills.
Starting from the dirt road, make a turn at the second parking spot, located near the shooting range. Ascend to the top of the hill and turn left, leading to a winding uphill course. This will eventually take you to a major intersection. A left here navigates to the Three Bears Trail, and after another climb, you'll reach the apex of the loop.A hard-braking descent leads to the first intersection. Turn right, and you'll loop back to the front of the mountain. At the large intersection, instead of retracing your route, opt for a left. This winding path offers four different routes, all leading back to the starting point.
The trailhead is easily accessible. Just follow the road around the back of the Fort Boise Softball fields, and park at the first parking spot before the road turns into a dirt track.
If Shane's Loop has been your go-to trail and you're hankering for a new challenge, Shane's Loop Redux is just what the doctor ordered. While retaining the basic features of the original, this trail takes it up a notch. Expect winding paths, hard climbs, and a few twists that will test your biking prowess.
This TFGB (Too Fun to Get Boring) favorite is a splendid mix of challenging climbs, relaxing flats, and speedy descents. It's a perfect route for riders looking for a fun-filled day of cycling without an overbearing challenge. Looping around Boise's glorious foothills, Shane's Loop Redux offers both a test of skills and a feast for the eyes. Riding this loop is an experience not to be missed by any biking enthusiast.
