Seamlessly merging the challenges of a controlled gradient with the thrill of downhill tracks, this loop has quickly become a favorite among both novice and seasoned riders.
Embarking on the loop begins with a climb of approximately 2.5 miles via the Coldwater Overlook Trail. Riders are presented with a choice: a detour to the left leading to the Coldwater Overlook, or the right, ascending towards the majestic Sardine Peak. The overlook, a mere half-mile away, promises a visual treat and is recommended for the extra effort.Opting for Sardine leads to a slightly more demanding climb. En route, riders will pass two branching trails, the latter of which unveils a spectacular view of Pine View Dam. Following this, prepare for a series of swift, playful switchbacks that culminate at a bridge, ushering riders onto the renowned Maples Trail. Depending on the starting point, the trail can either be followed back down or towards Snowbasin's doubletrack.
Getting There: Upon reaching the conclusion of the Maples Trail, turn right onto the doubletrack. Navigating through the Maples campground will bring riders to the trailhead. For an alternate start, the Snowbasin parking lot serves as an ideal location, from where one can proceed north via the doubletrack.
