However, do anticipate a couple of steep ascents where dismounting for a short hike may be necessary.Upon reaching the Lower Palisade Lake, riders are welcomed with a campground, perfect for a short rest or an overnight stay. The adventure continues for an additional 3 miles to the Upper Palisade Lake, a natural marvel known for its fishing prospects and frequent sightings of moose and bears. There's a challenging horse path high up or an even trickier single track skirting the water. Both paths lead either to Dry Canyon or Waterfall Canyon. And once the ridge is reached, prepare for a thrilling 12-mile downhill ride!For the adrenaline junkies, there's an alternate route via Little Elk Creek, culminating in a steep 3-mile climb to the same ridge, facilitating a quicker start to the downhill excitement.
To initiate this memorable journey, head south on 26 from Palisade, ID. Turn right into the Palisade Canyon entrance and proceed to the parking lot situated approximately 2-3 miles east.
