Luton Park Trail is one of the few mountain bike trails designed for new riders. It is a multi-use trail system open to hikers and trail runners alike. One striking feature of this trail is the simplicity with which it is designed. The trailhead opens up to the Blue Loop, which is the flattest and widest, quite suitable for starting as a rider. Amazingly, the Blue Loop helps beginners get used to their bikes and offers the confidence to ride the trail properly.
You can connect to the Yellow, Black, Red, and Orange Loops from the Blue Loop, and each loop has a different difficulty level. Also, the largest climb on the trail is found in the Yellow Loop, the ideal intermediate course. Riding, however, becomes more technical at the Black and Red Loop as they come with technical features like downhills, logs, and rock gardens to make your ride more interesting.
Beginners will find this trail quite special as it is difficult to get lost due to the markings provided at every trailhead and intersection. Finally, the well-designed trail has an elevation gain of 182 up and an elevation loss of 176 down.
All the loops on this trail are marked along with their difficulty level, so riders stick to routes that match their skill level. Amazingly, dogs are also allowed on this trail on the condition that they are leashed. Aside from the regular loop sections, optional routes begin at the end of the Black Loop, consisting of meadows, hardwoods, marshes, pines, and three bridge crossings, adding more excitement to the trail’s design.
Due to the soil’s high clay content and marshy nature, riders should avoid this trail after rainfall. Since the area is closed to hunting, there are little chances of bumping into strays or wildlife. Finally, even though the loops are relatively easy and the trail is beginner-friendly, you should also carry an emergency first aid kit, drinking water, and food supplies.
The area is not distinguished by amazing places, but visitors like the local nature and the beauty of the forest. There are also trails that run between the field on one side and the forest on the other, so you can enjoy the beauty of nature here.
Luton Park Trail is one of the best trails for beginners to try out riding for the first time. The trailhead opens up on the Blue Loop, which is the easiest and progresses gradually to higher difficulty levels.
