One would think that its short length would make it an easy trail to ride. However, the trailhead starts as a gravel doubletrack running uphill and continues into wooded singletrack, which is difficult to bike. Due to the trail’s design, you get to ride through short power climbs requiring endurance and downhill sections littered with twists and turns.
Interestingly, even with its wooded singletrack, there are just a few log crossings, much to the delight of intermediate and advanced riders. Also, with an elevation gain of 515 up and 467 down, biking on this trail is like going up and down a rollercoaster and swirling through the woods.
Although it is a short trail, Jewell Park has a completely fenced-in dog park for your pets to roam. The dog park also offers fantastic scenery and a view of pretty plants and flowers to relax with in between rides. Also, the trailhead marker is right across from the dog park fence.
Riders should make extra efforts to stick close to the trail to avoid getting lost, as there are several shortcuts that other people have tried to add. Also, the trail is not ideal for beginners as it requires top-tier skills and endurance to run the full loop without breaks. It would help if you carried along water and food supplies, as drinking water is not guaranteed. Finally, the climbs and descents on this trail are fast, so you should be vigilant while riding.
Jewell Park is a short trail which can be tough and therefore is not ideal for beginners. It consists of fast climbs and descents which require endurance to scale through. As e-bike riding is available here, Jewell Park can be a wonderful trail to experience mountain biking on.
