Nestled within the tranquil setting of Dacula, Georgia, Harbins Park Trail is a one-stop destination for cyclists of varied skill levels. This extensive trail system covers a distance of 11 miles and offers a combination of small and large loops, providing bikers with a variety of routes to explore. Whether you're a beginner looking for a casual spin or an experienced rider craving a challenge, Harbins Park Trail offers a little something for everyone.
Unlike mountainous terrains that leave riders gasping for air, Harbins Park is fairly flat, with twisty singletrack but minimal hill climbs and descents. The trail surface consists of a mix of roots and rocks, giving it an authentic off-road feel. Specifically designed trail sections like MB4, including "Rim Bender," offer steep short downhill runs with berms and rollers for added excitement.
For riders who like to go beyond the main tracks, Harbins Park has a multitude of hidden trails. Some of these offer very demanding inclines and fast but rough downhill sections. It takes a bit of exploration, but those who venture off the beaten path will be rewarded with exhilarating challenges and a more adventurous ride.
Harbins Park offers the unique feature of night riding. However, this is limited to specific times and only under the guidance of approved leaders. This is a must-try experience for riders seeking a different kind of thrill.
The trail system is complimented by well-maintained amenities including restrooms, bike wash areas, and even a playground for families. Although the park has a good number of "You Are Here" signs, there is a general consensus among riders that the individual trail signage could be improved for better navigation.
The route to Harbins Park is fairly straightforward. From Snellville eastbound on Hwy 78, take a left onto Grayson Hwy 84 north. This becomes Grayson New Hope Rd after approximately 7 miles. Make a right onto New Hope Rd, continue for 3.4 miles, then make another right onto Luke Edwards Rd. The park entrance is 1 mile ahead on the right at 2995 Luke Edwards Rd.
Whether you live close by or are willing to make the drive, adding Harbins Park Trail to your cycling repertoire is a decision you won't regret. Its trails offer a balance of speed, technical challenges, and scenic beauty, making it a worthy contender for your regular cycling rotation.
