Fall Creek trail is the place to be with your family or friends when the weather is nice. The entire trail is beginner-friendly and has exciting sightings that make it excursion-worthy.

The Fall Creek trail is an exciting place with a bunch of recreation opportunities. The 15.6 km trail is located in Northern Indianapolis. You can take your family for a biking adventure on the trail, including the young ones as it is mostly beginner-friendly. Some bits of the trail may be too much for the kids but the fun is worth a try. The trail is paved and cuts through Indianapolis city snaking along the titular creek.

Detailed Trail Description

The Fall Creek trail is parallels the titular creek on a forested corridor. It connects to the popular Monon trail giving you the chance to extend your trip north or south. The paved urban trail begins at North Meridian Street. You can also access it from its South Western end near the famous children’s museum of Indianapolis. From this point, it runs north and east following Fall creek.

It crosses the creek through Central Avenue and goes on a tranquil, shaded corridor. It connects with Monon trail under bridge. You can access Monon trail via a short path or continue riding on the main trail which continues along the creek up to 38th street where it crosses the creek again.

Ride past the street’s sidewalk to rejoin the trail opposite the railroad tracks at Indiana fair grounds. The rail tracks shuttle people when the Fair is open. The trail continues off-road till the end. You will pass quit neighborhoods in the City’s northern suburbs.

The quiet, forested corridor on which the trail runs is a scenic beauty. You will enjoy the tranquility the creek and the trees offer. Moreover, at the end, the trail diverges to give you access to Fort Harrison State Park and Skiles Test Nature Park. The two parks are a great reward after the 15.6 km ride. You can relax and take in the beauty before heading back.

Recommendations/precautions

  •       You need a pass to access the park which you can get at the park’s main gate.
  •       Some parts of the trail can be muddy after it rains.
  •       Even though the trail is adequately shaded, we recommend carrying plenty of drinking water.
  •       Beware of other trail users.
