Situated in the town of Eagle, Colorado, the Eagle Ranch Loops provide a refreshing alternative to the adrenaline-packed trails often found in the area. This 7-mile network not only loops around but also bisects a charming subdivision, offering a more relaxed experience for riders. However, don't underestimate the initial climb, as it packs a punch.
The trail starts with a challenging climb from the culdesac at the end of Brush Creek Road. After conquering this ascent, riders will find themselves in a network of trails that are mostly easy to negotiate. There's a variety of terrains, including singletrack, doubletrack, and even paved paths. Particularly noteworthy is the Meyer Gulch Trail, best ridden from southeast to northwest, which boasts a mile and a half of fun, swoopy sagebrush singletrack.
From I-70, take exit 147 and go south to the roundabout. Make a right turn onto Grand Ave, followed by a left onto Capitol St. Drive through Eagle for about 0.75 miles to a three-way stop and go left on Brush Creek Rd. Before reaching the Pool and Ice Rink, turn right onto Old Brush Creek Road, and then make a left at the next Brush Creek Road sign. After traveling 0.9 miles, make a right on Ouzel Lane, and then a quick left at the T onto Eagle Ranch Road. The culdesac at the end is your parking and trailhead.
Cyclists echo that this network is more beginner-oriented compared to other trails in Eagle. The majority of the tracks are not overly technical, and the steepest part of the ride is the initial climb from the culdesac. Starting points can vary as there are multiple trailheads, but one recommended route is to ride Turniphead to Mayer Gulch and then explore some of Riddle. Avoid descending 2nd Gulch if you can, as it's just a simple doubletrack.
