For adrenaline junkies and skilled bikers, the Riverview Loop offers a challenging yet highly rewarding experience. Located in Green River, Wyoming, this 6-mile loop trail is an intricate maze of technical turns, small rock drops, and cliff exposures. With a start and end point at the Riverview Cemetery, the trail's morbidly intriguing name has an added flair that's hard to ignore.
The Riverview Loop trail is dissected into an upper and lower section, each functioning as a large contour trail. This setup provides a rollercoaster-like experience filled with cliff drops and a wooden bridge to negotiate.
To reach the trailhead, drive to the Riverview Cemetery north of Green River, WY, and park in the large dirt area just outside the cemetery gates. From there, descend into and cross the large wash on the east side of the cemetery. Follow the well-established 2-track road up out of the wash, then hang a right on another 2-track road that contours around the hill. This will soon transition into a single-track trail, and you simply follow this loop back to your starting point.
A staple for advanced riders, the Riverview Loop provides a thrilling ride complete with several technical features and terrain changes that keep you on your toes. With its close proximity to the interstate and well-marked loop, the trail is also user-friendly for those unfamiliar with the area. Overall, Riverview Loop promises an exhilarating escapade with a backdrop of Wyoming's stark, beautiful high desert.
