To reach Avery Creek Trail, start from Asheville and head south on I-26E. Take the exit for Highway 280, steering southwest toward Brevard. Right at Highway 276, you’ll find yourself in the heart of Pisgah National Forest. Turn right onto FS 477 to access the trail either via Bennett Gap or directly from FS 477.
Beginning either from FS 477 at the bottom or via Buckwheat Knob, Black Mountain, or Club Gap trail at the top, the Avery Creek Trail extends for 3.2 miles of classic Pisgah terrain. A few characteristics make this trail particularly interesting:
